About us

Who we are

We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can bring comfort, dignity, and hope to older people

We began our journey by reaching out to older people in need — those facing loneliness, poor health, or lack of care. As we connected with more individuals, we realized there were many who required support with daily living, medical assistance, and companionship. This inspired us to expand our team and extend our reach across different regions, ensuring that every older person we meet can live with dignity, comfort, and hope.

Light after 50 is not for profit community based organization  established in 2010 August at Nakawuka  Wakiso District. In Uganda elderly people above 50 years of age often face poverty, neglect, poor health care, and lack of social support. Many of them have limited income, no pension schemes, and little access to affordable medical services. With weak social protection systems and rising poverty, elderly people risk living in isolation, poor health, and despair.

Light after 50 seeks to empower elderly citizens with health, social, and economic support to live dignified, meaningful, productive lives and a descent send off in case life ends.
